Formal Recruitment

Registration for Formal Recruitment is from October 1, 2023 to December 22, 2023. Late registrations will not be accepted. Philanthropy Day (all virtual):

Round 1: Thursday, 1/25/2024, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Round 2: Friday, 1/26/2024, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Round 3: Friday, 1/26/2024, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Development Day (in-person):

Round 1: Saturday, 1/27/2024, 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Round 2: Saturday, 1/27/2024, 3:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Preference Night (in person):

Round 1: Sunday, 1/28/2024, 2:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Bid Day (in person):

Please make sure you are available for an unscheduled 15-minute time slot between 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as well as 8:00 PM onwards, on Monday, 1/29/2024 for Bid Day activities.


FAQs

  • Can I join a Panhellenic sorority as a freshman?

    • Yes, only first-semester first-year students are not permitted to join a Panhellenic sorority.

  • Can I join a Panhellenic sorority as a sophomore?

    • Yes! Many students decide to wait until their sophomore year to participate in Formal Recruitment. Juniors and seniors are also eligible and welcome to register.

  • Can I join a Panhellenic sorority as a transfer student?

    • Yes! Transfer students are permitted to participate in recruitment. If you miss the December 22nd deadline, please email panhellexec@columbia.edu no later than January 6, 2024 if you want to participate in recruitment this spring.

  • Are graduate students eligible?

    • Unfortunately, not. Panhellenic Recruitment is only available to full-time undergraduate students at Barnard College, Columbia College, School of General Studies, or School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

  • How do I submit legacy information?

    • You can include legacy details in your registration.

  • Does Panhellenic require recommendation letters?

    • Each chapter within Panhellenic has its own set of requirements which will be explained during Formal Recruitment. Panhellenic does not collect recommendation letters.

  • How much does being in a sorority cost?

    • Dues will vary by chapter. Costs will be explained during Potential New Member (PNM) Orientation and during Formal Recruitment.
